The library keeps superseded volumes of many of our titles in case someone needs to reference the law at an earlier point in time. This is why you may see the same title multiple times in a list of search results.
To find the most recent version (or the version for a particular point in time), try sorting the results by date.
To access Advanced Search, select it from the dropdown search menu in the blue bar across the top of the page.
Advanced search is a good option when you are searching for something specific, especially if the words are common. For example, if you are looking for the treatise Moore's Federal Practice, doing a simple search returns all books that have each of those words somewhere in their description. By doing an advanced search, you can specify that you are only looking for books with “federal practice” in the title, and “Moore” as the author – which returns a much more specialized list:
The same additional options that are available on simple search are available on advanced search. Simply click "Show additional options" below the search boxes to further refine your searches.
Check this option if you’d like to be able to filter your results list by author, subject, year, or other categories.
Enter a single year or range of years to limit your search by publication date.
Select from the lists provided to limit your search. Once results display, these lists also provide the number of results found (e.g., Format: Book (151), Maps (1), Visual Materials (3), etc.).
Be sure to click on Start Over to clear the search field and selected options when you are done with your search. Otherwise, any options you select will carry over into a new search.
