Reading Oregon's House and Senate Journals

The Oregon House and Senate Journals are the official record of the Oregon legislature's proceedings. They record the official actions of the legislature over the course of the legislative session. They also contain a calendar of actions on each bill considered in both houses.

When we look to the bill calendars we follow 3 steps:

  1. The House or Senate Committee name
  2. Dates of legislative committee hearings. **
  3. Repeat for other legislative chamber

** Prior to 1979 the journals do not record committee hearing dates but only contain floor actions
